Good evening friends,

I had my very FIRST fundraiser on Saturday (3/15) and it was quite the success! For my job I am a barista and I love drinking coffee as well as making it. So I decided that obviously a big portion of my fundraising I knew I wanted it to include coffee, it is such a good way to connect with people and I want to make my fundraising as personal as possible. Honestly who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee? Putting together a solo fundraiser is kind of big thing that felt daunting, it’s something I’ve never done before and I was worried that I would fail. It took a lot of prep and help from my family and some close friends, I could not have done it without my family so a huge shout out to them, I’m very grateful that my family is supporting me in the best ways! This fundraiser made the trip start to feel surreal and kind of jump start into the prepping for this trip and all the fundraising it will take. At my fundraiser not only was I able to make drinks and connect with people, I also set aside a portion of the time to talk about what I’m doing, where I’m going and the things that I was feeling leading up to this day! I’ll be honest, I was anxious and nervous. Anxious that I was going to be unprepared or mess up, and nervous that no one was going to show up, sometimes when I get in my head it’s hard to get out. This was a moment where I realized that the devil will literally use anything to get to you and feed you lies. God is so much bigger than the enemy and his schemes and I’m His daughter that He loves, so why should I worry? The night before and the morning of I was praying and reminding myself that not only has God already gone ahead of me and knows the outcome, but He will provide the means for me to go on this trip if it His will for me to go! That being said, my first fundraiser went very well, it went smooth, I didn’t mess up, plenty of people came, and I got to share with people about what I’m doing! For those reasons among many others, I have so much to praise God for! I am so excited to continue to make coffee, fundraise, and share with people all the ways that God will move and what other opportunities He has for me! I am confident in the God that I serve and am so excited to continue down this path that He is calling me too! That’s it for now, stay tuned for my next blog post and hear about my next fundraiser

in Christ with love,

Mikayla
